I took my vintage lenses up Mt. Kobushi in the Okuchichibu mountains in autumn. The name comes from the three old provinces — Kai, Musashi and Shinano — whose borders meet on this peak, and it is also the source of the Shinano River, the longest river in Japan. In the mountains I like to keep my pack light, so this time I carried just two lenses: the small, light Super-Takumar 55mm f1.8, and the Nikkor-P Auto 105mm f2.5 for picking out distant ridges. How will a mountain just starting to turn autumn look through them? Let's go for a vintage lens hike!
